The fine line between wine and art

Some say there’s a fine line between art and wine. Let’s have a look why…

A striking similarity between art and wine is colour. Artists often use color to add emotion to a piece. Red is often used to denote love or danger, while Green is sometimes related to ecology. The same concept applies to wine. Without looking at the label, one will immediately have an idée of what the wine would taste like. If the colour is dark, it usually means it’s a heavy wine. If the color is light, then you’re probably looking at a light bodied wine.

There are even people around the world, who do wine and art pairing. They take the fundamental elements of wine and of art and compare them to each other.  Each element has an influence in creating a certain experience.  We will pair those experiences or emotions to each other.

If you look at the process of wine making, you discover the vast creativity needed. Everything from selecting of the grapes, to breaking the skins is precise. Mixing and matching different batches and grapes to meet the wine maker’s approval. And not even mentioning the art that goes into designing the label.

So basically all the ingredients to create a wine are the colours on the pallet. Each artist/winemaker uses their own method. Finally, the wine in the barrel is the painting on the canvas.
